Tonight I'm sad, for Fidus Achates had his heart broken today. FA had a wonderful young cat - "the most beautiful cat ever" - that had such a wonderful personality and was like no other cat he'd ever cared for. Today he took Cootie to the vet for rabies and distemper vaccinations. Cootie had a severe allergic reaction and died. FA called me and I rushed to the vet to be with him. Two friends and his sponsor came to the house to be with him. We all went to a meeting, where other people were able to be with him.
I'm so glad he went to the meeting. You see, it was a speaker meeting and he really didn't want to go because - well, because he didn't want to go to a speaker meeting. In our area, speakers talk for about 45-50 minutes, sharing their story - what it was like, what happened and what it's like now. We showed up late, so no one knew what had happened a few hours earlier. No one knew FA needed/wanted to talk.
FA was able to share his pain in a meeting where he thought he wouldn't have the chance to do so. Several people shared their experience, strength and hope and many more (if not all) talked with him after the meeting. Wow.

The speaker finished his story with about 25 minutes left in the meeting.
